North: Riding a Jumper Derby
Course designer Joey Rycroft will be doing a combined 30-minute presentation and course walk demo On Sunday, May 21st at the Caledonia Classic horse show held at Amberlea Meadows. This educational presentation will begin at approximately 1:00pm, before the 1.10 Derby (class #110) begins. It will be held in the sponsors tent, weather permitting, with complimentary snacks and refreshments provided to attendees. Joey will talk about the different obstacles, tips on how to navigate them, perspective on the course designs, and then a short course walk focusing on some specific elements and pointers on how to walk a Jumper Derby to get the best ride.
South: Riding a Hunter Derby
USEF judge Meg Schulman will be doing a combined 30 minute presentation and course discussion on Friday, May 19th at the RMSJ Bow Valley Classic II. This educational presentation will begin at 3:30 pm at the Norquay Hunter Ring, and complimentary snacks and refreshments will be provided to attendees. Meg will talk about the art of riding a hunter derby, tips and techniques of the course track, and give insights into what judges are looking for in these challenging classes.
